  • Taiga Club Meetup (June 3-4, 2023)

    The Taiga Board team comes to Toronto for a weekend of free paddleboarding clinics at Cherry Beach, in association with Toronto SUP & Kayak! Try out some boards, join a workshop, and meet some of the Taiga Club members. All SUP & safety equipment is included. All you need to bring is yourself and your stoke!

  • Earth Day Cleanup with Lake Surfistas and A Greener Future (April 22, 2023)

    Join Lake Surfistas and A Greener Future as we clean the Bluffers Park shores in Scarborough. You can participate in this event by bringing your own paddleboard to clean up on the water or by helping us clean up the lakefront on land.

  • Lake Surfistas' 7th Annual Beach Day (September 2022)

    Lake Surfistas’ annual Beach Day returned for it’s seventh edition and took place at a new location: Sandbanks Provincial Park! It was a full day of fun as our community gathered to surf, SUP, skate, and celebrate being a Surfista! We welcomed over 100 participants, gave out swag from ROXY, and debuted our Gear Library.

  • Surf the Greats' She Shreds (August 2022)

    She Shreds is an annual event hosted by Toronto surf shop Surf the Greats. This event welcomed women to experience Great Lakes surfing, with no equipment barrier and no prior experience required — just a willingness to try something new. We offered guided yoga, beach cleanups, and intro to surf and surfskate clinics.

  • SUP with Litter? at Crystal Beach (August 2022)

    A collaboration between A Greener Future, Lake Surfistas, and Pop Up Paddle Co! We conducted a community clean up of the beach and water Crystal Beach on Lake Erie. Over 4500 pieces of litter were collected by our team and volunteers.

  • Taiga Tribe Toronto Meetup (August 2022)

    We brought the Taiga Board team to Toronto for a day of fun at Cherry Beach! Several people came out to meet the Taiga tribe, try out the 2022 lineup of Taiga paddleboards, and attend free paddleboarding clinics. This even was run in collaboration with Toronto SUP & Kayak.

  • SUP with Litter? at Sandbanks Provincial Park (July 2022)

    A collaboration between A Greener Future, Sandbanks Provincial Park, and Lake Surfistas! We conducted several shorelines cleanups via SUP and picked up hundreds of pieces of trash, while collecting data, and raising awareness in-person and via social media.

  • Patagonia Toronto Surf Chat and Film Screening (July 2022)

    Lake Surfistas hosted a table and lead a panel on women in surf featuring local surfers as part of Patagonia Toronto’s screening of “The Yin and Yang of Gerry Lopez”.

  • Swim Drink Fish's Clean Water Kickoff (June 2022)

    Swim Drink Fish hosted a series of Clean Water Kickoffs across Canada to celebrate the launch of their 2021 Hub monitoring reports, and talk about water stewardship, connection, and protection. I was a presenter at their Toronto event.

  • PBS "Great Lakes Now" Sneak Peek Watch Party (March 2022)

    Robin Pacquing and I were guests on PBS’ docuseries “Great Lakes Now” Sneak Peek Watch Party. We were interviewed by producer Anna Sysling about their segment on Lake Surfistas and surfing Lake Ontario in the winter. This aired live on Facebook and YouTube.

  • Lake Surfistas ROXY Swag Crew (Aug-Dec 2021)

    The #LSROXYSwagCrew is a nod to the ‘90s street team, with the Lake Surfistas team bringing ROXY gear to all the rad women we run into at the surf spots on the Great Lakes. Look for us the next time you’re out on the water!

  • Jack.org Brainfreeze 2021 (November 2021)

    Individually, I raised over $1000 for Jack.org as part of the Surf the Greats “Ice Beards” team. We plunged in Lake Ontario in early November and amplified Jack.org’s mission of providing mental health resources for Canada’s youth.

  • SUP With Litter? (August 2021)

    A collaboration between A Greener Future, Lake Surfistas and Thurso Surf, SUP With Litter brought together volunteers to clean up the Humber River on paddleboards. 2,241 pieces of litter were collected.

  • BGOW SUP in the 6ix (August 2021)

    Brown Girl Outdoor World brought their community to the Toronto Islands for a morning of first-time SUP lessons and fun on the water! This event was sold-out with 20 women participating. This is the second year for this event.

  • Toronto Island SUP Trash Dash (June 2021)

    Toronto Island SUP hosted their semi-annual Trash Dash, inviting volunteers to collect litter via SUP around the islands. I participated in the cleanup while doing an Instagram takeover for Thurso Surf.

  • #LSEarthDay with ROXY (April 2021)

    Lake Surfistas collaborated with ROXY to host #LSEarthDay, inviting our community to share their favourite surf-related eco-friendly tip on Instagram. Entries were reshared and four winners received ROXY prize packs.

  • International Women's Day with Breakfast Television (March 2021)

    Lake Surfistas appeared on Breakfast Television for three live segments celebrating International Women’s Day. I co-organized and was interviewed live on camera.

  • SUP 101 Online (September 2020)

    Diana Lee and I co-hosted a live, virtual workshop for new paddleboarders looking to learn more about the sport (gear, safety, year-round paddling). Proceeds went to Lake Surfistas.

  • Fjallraven SUP in Winter (February 2020)

    Fjallraven hosted a screening of Ashley Bowa’s short documentary ‘In Winter.’ This was followed by a talk on paddleboarding in the winter by the doc’s subjects, myself and Diana Lee.

  • Patagonia Great Lakes Surf Forecasting (January 2020)

    Patagonia invited Lake Surfistas to run a surf forecasting workshop for the community. SwimDrinkFish and Oceana Canada also took part in the event. I co-organized and ran the social media promotion for Lake Surfistas.

  • Toronto Indoor SUP Race (January 2020)

    Racing on the worlds largest indoor lake at the Toronto International Boat Show. The event was not just about SUP racing, but having fun and being an ambassador for the sport.

  • Ladies of the Lake Beach Day (October 2019)

    The 5th annual Ladies of the Lake Beach Day welcomed almost 100 Great Lake surfers to Pleasant Beach (Lake Erie) for a full day of workshops, paddling, surf stoke, and prizes. We got a lot of support from the SUP and surf community, including Starboard, Surfsup Eco Shop, Surf Ontario, and Surf the Greats.
